Regional training pathway for stop smoking practitioners

A regional training pathway and training programme offers economies of scale and ensures that all practitioners across a region have access to the same core training, and that practitioners working with priority groups and people with additional needs have access to advanced training.

This document suggests a pathway for the training of stop smoking practitioners in both the core and advanced competences outlined in the competency framework for stop smoking practitioners, and the provision of ongoing support and continuing professional development.

This document is adapted from a regional training pathway developed as part of a partnership between NCSCT and Breathe, a collaboration between fifteen local authorities within Humber and North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire NHS Integrated Care Boards.
