NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) commissioned the NCSCT to develop competency frameworks to support the training and development of NHS staff.

The competency frameworks, initially developed by the NCSCT and adapted following further internal consultation with subject matter experts, are applicable to:
• Delivering very brief advice on smoking (VBA+)
• Providing bespoke, in-depth tobacco dependence treatment intervention
• Leadership
