Monitoring of service provider performance is key to understanding how services are working and where improvements need to be made.
For the commissioning of local stop service providers this can involve a number of key performance indicators including four week quit rates, the proportion of these self-reported quitters validated by carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring and targets set for service throughput.
Regular audit of these key performance indicators is required to ensure the validity of data returns provided by service providers.
NCSCT CIC is currently developing and piloting a process for auditing local stop smoking services.
